WALL-E-a movie review

By:Desiree M. M.

Maybe this movie review is very late when WALL E was shown in Philippine Cinemas on June 2008.

Regardless of the delay, this review contains my opinion about the movie.
I am not really a movie-goer or a movie-fan but when I watched this movie ,(downloaded from torrent) it seemed that I wanted to watch another movie of any type. I missed the days that I am frustrated to go to movie houses.

Anyway, this will be a brief review.

WALL –E is an animated fiction movie about a trash- compactor robot named WALL-E, who was left behind on earth to clean the trash and garbages accumulated for many years. WALL-E befriended Eve, an advanced robot from outer space sent to earth to collect an evidence of any proof of life. The people on earth were evacuated to a large- cruise space ship where technology is very advance and their needs are sustain without any difficulty. The setting of the movie happened on the year 2105, on earth and in space-cruise ship.

The earth was covered with a large volume of garbage because of humans continuous consumed of many items without disposing them properly. The humans decided to transfer into a large space-cruise ship until earth is cleaned by trash- compactor robots. WALL- E was one of these trash compactor robots and invented to clean the earth. Unluckily, he was the only one left. After sometime, a space ship landed on earth. Unknown to WALL-E, the space ship sent EVE, an advance female robot to collect something/ anything that can be a proof of life. The proof of life could be a living thing which will tell if earth can still support humans. WALL-E fell in love with EVE. While EVE was on earth, WALL- E showed her many good things and memories were kept until the time that EVE left earth. EVE found a small plant which means a proof of life. Afterwhich, EVE was shutdown and waited until the space ship picked her up. Because of WALL- E’s undying feelings for EVE, he followed EVE to outer space and came to the cruise-ship were humans temporarily live. The large-cruise space ship was called the AXIOM. Here, WALL- E saw many highly developed and sophisticated robots. The AXIOM helped humans to survive not to live. Humans were fatter and obesed. Even the Captain B. McCrea (AXIOM’s captain) himself looked like a big fat bull. Entertainment, latest trends in fashion, movies, and communication were given to humans while they were sitted in an auto-chair like vehicle. The technology here was very advanced that human beings forgot to appreciate and observe what is in reality.

WALL-E’s accidental visit to AXIOM made the Captain McCrea interested to earth. When, the captain saw the plant, a proof of life, he decided an immediate returned to earth. But unfortunately, the highly- sophisticated robots don’t want people to relocate. With the help of the rogue robots, (robots with unlikely behavior, with malfunction parts) WALL-E and EVE passed all the struggles and finally people went home to earth. Using a hyper-jump, the AXIOM made to earth for just in 10 seconds.

The movie contained moral values about Frienship, Love and Care to Mother Earth, Appreciation to one’s abilities and skills, and Cooperation and Helping One Another. Also, the movie has so many subjects like technology, health, nature, friendship, automation, values, science, and many more.

This movie I learned to love basically has a great animation and graphics.
The drama was just right and the scenes for every subject was emphasized.
What I really don’t like about the movie was I think it was short. Maybe, it should be made 2 hrs instead of 1 and 30 mins. When humans came back to earth to plant and live again should be a little longer. WALL-E and EVE’s adventures inside the AXIOM was undoubtedly outstanding even some parts made me angry. I was really caught up with the greediness of the robot, G0-4, the one who was responsible for security (if I am not mistaken). Because G0-4 tried to destroy the plant which was the proof of life on earth. If I will rate this film, I’ll give this 97% out of 100 (as the highest score)
This film is perfect for families, friends, and children. Again, Disney produced another great movie which will truly be included in your movie-play-lists.
